In 1851, opened in Paris, "Lyric Theatre" on the stage which had been placed many wonderful examples of French lyric opera ("Faust" and "Romeo and Juliet" by Gounod, "The Trojans at Carthage" by Berlioz, "The Pearl" Wiese). The value of this theater lay in the fact that he popularized many of the operatic works of the various national schools (Mozart, Beethoven, and Verdi).
